THEATRE LIGHTING
With Theatre Lighting it is very important to use the correct type of lighting fixtures, combined with the correct focus and positioning. If a full even coverage of light is not achieved then blackspots and uneven shadows will occur, leaving the performers looking very unprofessional as they move in and out of the light.
Fresnels are a style of light that provide a very even coverage of light. They create soft edges of light, so when combining multiple fixtures next to each other to 'wash' the stage, the light sources blend together and so is not noticeable where they overlap. Matrix stock a range of Selecon fresnels from 650w to 2K.
Profiles have a circular sharp edged beam that can be shaped using shutters to highlight a specific area or project an image by using a gobo. Standard images are available or custom gobos can be made for a particular effect. Matrix stock a range of Selecon Pacifics and ETC Source 4s in a number of different degree angles.
Cyc flood lights can use coloured filters known as gels to project solid colours onto a backdrop or cyclorama at the rear of the stage area.
